An open letter to all the Royalites!!

  1. Wake up.
  2. Eat a hustle-breakfast or not at all.
  3. Dress up in a formal shirt, pants and a neck-tie (scarf, in case of girls).
  4. Enter the college gate before 9:00 A.M. In case, it is even 9:01 A.M, and unfortunately if you do not have a late-entry card, you are sent home. Sigh!
  5. Attend classes continuously. And then comes a 40-minute break, where you fulfill the wishes of your pitiful stomach.
  6. End of classes at exactly, 4:00 P.M (not a minute earlier)
  7. Reach home. Sleep. Have dinner. Sleep.
  8. Repeat.

Confused?
No, do not be. This is not the routine of any kid preparing to be an army officer in the border areas of our country. This is the routine of a Royalite. And if you are one, be proud to be one. And if you are truly following this routine, let me tell you, there cannot be any other thing in this world which would make you happier than hear the sweet news of a public holiday, or the arrival of a Saturday or Sunday. And this is the fact which makes us, the Royalites different from students of other engineering colleges. And if any of you haven’t come to terms about studying in the Royal Group of Institutions, it is high time you accept the fact that we are a one of a kind of Royalites and we must respect this very fact.

Just be proud of the fact that you are a Royalite. No human being has recorded to spend 7 hours of college time attending continuous classes at a stretch. No human being can eat only once between 9:00 AM and 4:00 PM, and that too strictly pure vegetarian. No human being can sit for a mandatory mid-semester examination of half-a-century of marks, let alone the end-semester examination of a century of marks. No human being can bear to be locked up for 7 hours at a stretch within a college campus. Thankfully, only a Royalite can.

So all I am asking you is to be proud that the human being who 'can' and have the pride of studying in one of the finest colleges of North-East India is you, No pun intended! Enjoy your days at RGI. It would be these memories which you would cherish after 2-3 decades. Respect your college. Respect your teachers. Respect your college days. Respect women. Happy reading.
