Lockdown Blues!

The evening was already tiring. The excitement for the weekend getaway had lost its significance as the entire country had openly embraced the qualities of a nationwide lock-down in its entirety. The 'New Normal' seemed to affect one too many, with their own set of difficulties and problems. I had only recently joined my new office. The lockdown meant that I had hardly any time to settle in my new workplace. So I wasn't much complaining about the work-from-home mode. Plus, I and Meghna were only recently married. Hence, I could get some time to spend with my best friend, whom I had been dating for quite some time. 9 years!

'Remember the first time we met?' asked Meghna, looking across my arm towards the wardrobe. I could sense something running in her mind but I could hardly guess a thing. Only was I trying to figure out my best possible guess when she threw the follow up question at me.

'That was a rhetorical query, mister. I am pretty sure you must have discarded that from your precious memory already.'

My brain cells boggled up and down at the live quiz. It tried in vain to run every permutation and combination to decipher the motive of that interrogation. Every time I tried to come to a conclusion, madam would shoot a mysterious stare towards my eyes, which would send my head, already reeling with multiple choice situations in a tizzy.

'That was indeed the most alluring day of my life. I still remember those charming eyes....' As I tried to cope up with her amazingly photographic memory, she cut me off.

'What did I wear? On that day. Do you remember?'

It would have been almost a decade since I met this elegant lady. She was indeed the most beautiful universal entity I had ever seen! I still remember that day crystal clear in my mind. On the hindsight, I hardly even recall what I wore on my wedding evening and there, the love of my life was testing my already depleted knowledge from centuries ago. I wasn't even a historian. I looked at her. Wow! As strict as her questions seemed, she presented me with the greatest source of my happiness. Thank you God.

'Probably, that whi..' I tried to speak.
'White? I knew it. You never pay attention on what I wear, right? Damon would remember exactly every detail about Bella from the day they met! Bella is so so lucky!'

'Bella who?' I gazed on my conscience, to try my luck on some fictional character. Sigh!

'Doesn't matter!'

'Is Bella and Damon from that teen romantic web series?'

'I wonder why did I marry you. Sigh!' She looked at me, disappointed.

She was so very beautiful. Her charming eyes were cosmic! Anger makes her even more adorable! Oh how I wanted to kiss her right away. Wonder how mother nature comes up with such gorgeous creations. I looked at her exquisite hair! Beauty indeed lies in the eyes of the beholder. A thing of beauty is a joy forever!

'Why are you silent?' She asked. I had lost my mind within the alluring magic of her musical words. Paradise!

'What were you asking?'
'Leave it.' She went to the wardrobe and opened its doors. She turned to me, pointed at her collection and quipped,
'Show me, which dress did I wear when you first met me?'

I looked at her. And then at the heavens above. Although allegorically. That might have been the toughest question ever in the history of mankind. I took a deep breath. My heart started pumping blood in the exact same manner on the day I had met this enchanting lady! I could feel the clock ticking. I could also see her dismayed facial expression. She was so delicate even in disappointment. She indeed made my entire body go merry!

Suddenly, my phone beeped a notification. I silently turned my eyes towards the screen.

"Your green internet membership ends tomorrow

That was a message from the previous night. Holy Shit! I had almost forgotten. That might have been nature's cryptic way of reminding my absent-minded cerebral matter. Phew! I suddenly decoded my way to end the Q&A session. Very carefully, I turned the phone towards me and did the rest of the necessary operation. Almost now. I then switched on the smart TV.

'Hey, babe. Let's Netflix and.....'
