Game of Thrones: Season 6 Episode 1: My Review!
Finally, the much-awaited 6th season of Game of
Thrones was released and fans across the globe, including me pressed the excitement
button after a long one-year wait. This past one year felt like the long, long
winter! After all, each one of us was eager to know Jon Snow’s faith, right?
Game of Thrones is rage! It is curiosity! It is life! Right
from the theme music, which arouses goosebumps within every viewer, it keeps
you hooked up. Episode 1 started right from where it ended last season, the
scene of Snow’s outrageous murder! Ser Davos finds his body and takes it to a
room, with the help of a few fellow good men of the Night’s Watch. From the
aftermath of the few events following this, it is at least temporarily
confirmed that Jon Snow will remain dead, until and unless the ever-beautiful
Red-Woman resurrects him to life.
The extremely ever-gorgeous Lady Sansa is still walking or
rather running, thankfully, after the jump of last season! And it’s quite a
relief that Lady Brienne finds her before she is recaptured by Bolton’s men. On
the flip side, I still have no clue as to what happened to the hounds as they
automatically vanish from the scene after the attack! Nevertheless, Lady Sansa
is love!
And amongst last season’s unexpected deaths, Myrcella’s body
reaches King’s Landing along with Jamie. Now, it is these two twins or more
precisely, lovers Jamie and Cersei that I don’t really care about. RIP
Myrcella.
Lady Margaery is amongst the most alluring lady casts of GoT
and seeing her locked up by the High Sparrows is still a thing of demise. I
wonder when she will be freed. Just no Walk of Shame for her, that’s all!
The
ever-charismatic and attractive Sand Snakes of Dorne were the things of beauty
in season 5. But in this episode, they have probably paved the way for being
murderers, assassins or butchers, along with their evil mother. With the deaths
of Prince Doran and Prince Trystane,
Dorne will surely be a place of violence.
Meereen is still without Daenerys and the talks of Varys and
Tyrion is amusing to the core! In the presence of these two witty
personalities, you can say, Meereen is in good hands, at least for now.
Daenerys is in the hands of the Dothraki and it is
frightening to know that she will be sent to Vaes Dothrak, to spend her last
days as widow of a Khal. Plus, the sight of the envious women jealously watching
over her beauty, which had already bowled me over, was a treat to watch!
Arya is still blind. But I suppose, it will be a part of her
training as far as it is shown. I just wish this girl gets her eyesight back as
soon as possible. Pains my heart to see such a cuteness-filled girl in distress. Better still, a blind Arya charms no less!
Jon’s Snow’s stabbing and subsequent death was already the
talk of the town. And this episode’s focus was back at the Night’s Watch. One
thing is for sure, whether or not the Red-Woman resurrects him or not, his body
will not be burned, at least for now. The air of suspense is making Game of
Thrones better than ever. Whether or not Jon Snow will be back alive, it is
still to be seen.
But there was a very specific reason why this very eagerly
awaited, first episode was named as ‘The Red-Woman’. Initially, I had wondered
whether she would try to bring back Snow to life on the very first episode. But
the reason was very saddening in itself. The Red-Woman’s real face might have
shattered a million hearts the world over but if it’s really the end of Carice
Van Houten’s role in GoT, then my heart would never be in the same shape ever.
Valar Morghulis, Dear O’ lovely, enchanting and marvelous
Miss Houten!
Most of the questions still remain unanswered, Jon Snow being
the biggest! But as the season progresses, I do hope for some serious plots to surprise us like never before. This episode might just be a trailer of the bigger things yet to come!
Winter is actually coming!
