Who is responsible for the floods in Guwahati?
Flood Alert! Water, water
everywhere but not a drop to drink! The famous places of Anil Nagar, Nabin
Nagar and Zoo Road were in the news yet again, and for the same old reason. But
this time, the floods had reached new heights.
It was reportedly the worst case of floods in the last 25 years. No wonder locals now term Anil Nagar as Anil Sagar! In some places, people had even fallen victim to landslides when a house tore down in the middle of the night. It is really saddening to see people suffer to these limits in our own city. I certainly have no clue up to what extent Guwahatians can bear the trouble of the floods, which has become a major danger in the lives of the people in the city.

OK! I surely don’t want to speak
about these floods. But the real question is: Who is at fault? Should the blame
be put on the ruling government in Assam which has been in power for the last
13 years and yet not found a solution to the problem? Or should it be put on
some stupid youth political leaders who would rather change their profile
pictures instead of working for the people? Or the people of the city for being
careless and selfish? The real culprit is everybody. But just by blaming
somebody, the problem cannot be solved. The real remedy is to eradicate this
problem, which has been a major cause of concern for the citizens. I don’t get
it as to why this problem is still a major setback in the city even after so
many years. These floods are still making the lives of the people miserable.
And thanks to these floods, people are now afraid of the occasional rainfall
which is prevalent in the city. With many places of the city still suffering
from the after-effects of the floods, it would be quite a task for the state
government to make amends for the destruction caused. There have been reports that crores of rupees
are being spent for the development of the city but the reality is that the
money has been selfishly consumed by these senseless ministers. After these
unlucky 13 years, I seriously have lost hope about the city being developed by
the state Government. I just hope that the sufferings of the people don’t
increase but stopped, with the problem of floods being eradicated for good. With
so many sad visuals being telecasted in the local news channels, I have come to
the conclusion that these politicians do not have a heart and have put a blind
eye to the sorrows of the citizens. Sadly, I also hope that one day the floods
do not replace the one-horned rhino as the main tourist attraction in the
state! Jai Aai Axom!
well written boy!!good thought. way to go.
