6 players Manchester United need to offload!
Every time Manchester United
takes the field, I feel that some of these players need to be sold off, to save
further damage, both to the club and the player. It doesn’t necessarily mean
that the player is not worthy enough to wear the red jersey but some players
doesn’t get accustomed to certain clubs.
1. Javier Hernandez: Honestly, he is the
first player that comes to my mind when I think of underrated players. After a
promising and successful first season at United in the 2010-11 season, he is
surely not getting enough playing time to prove his worthiness. He needs a move
to another club as quickly as possible, just for the sake of his career. It
just makes me sad to see him start from the bench every other match.
2. Tom Cleverly: Well, he was supposed to
be the answer to Paul Scholes’ retirement. And after three continuous poor
seasons, he is surely not heading the correct path. As an attacking mid-fielder,
you are supposed to take the ball forward, with an attacking mentality. But
what Cleverly does, is certainly done best by confused and poor defenders. Come
next season, I would love to see Nick Powell take up his role.
3. Nani:
When Cristiano Ronaldo departed from United, his void was supposed
to be filled up by his countrymen, Nani. In the years to follow, after
Ronaldo’s departure, Nani showed glimpses of Ronaldo’s sheer pace and his
on-field skills with the football. But with injuries and bad form, he surely
has lost that potential. And with the new manager, I would like to see a young
Wilfred Zaha take up his place.
4. Ashley Young: When he was signed from
Aston Villa, it was basically because of his powerful presence at the wing
positions. A decent run in his first season of 2011-12, he is one of the
players who are handsomely paid for doing nothing on the pitch. With too many
wasteful crosses, I really hate his game play. I would definitely love to see
this player sold off to some other club and his place permanently taken up by
Adnan Januzaj.
5. Chris Smalling: One thing in my life
that I couldn’t figure out is to why would a player like Smalling get to even
play football? Barring a few matches, when he defended well, he is often seen
wasting possession and losing the ball as easily as writing ABC. I do not know
if he ever trains in the proper manner but honestly, a manger like Van Gaal
will surely not be happy to watch him play. Better to sell him.
6. Anders Lindegaard: The only other
player apart from Chicaarito, who I hate to see on the bench, is this
goal-keeper. Apart from Ferguson’s last match when United threw away a 5-goal lead
to end the match on 5-5, Lindegaard has never had a poor match. This player
doesn’t deserve to be a second choice goal-keeper at this club. Given a team,
which can guarantee him a first place, he needs to make a move on to realize
his true potential.
