Consensio 2016
When I started my engineering career, I always had a perfect notion about the perks and luxuries which are guaranteed at this period of my life. After almost 4
years hence, life is already taking a vicious turn which, in a few months would
indeed sum up my engineering life. Without many options to implore, the last
few days of the precious and nostalgic last semester were pacing away faster than I had expected.
And then, Consensio 2016 happened. The best Consensio, Royal Group of
Instituions has ever seen.
For years, Consensio was all about distant memories of KK, N-E Breeze, Dilbaag Singh and also our very own Zubeen Garg, who had performed in the past few years. Flashbacks of previous editions failed to bestow that special something, which would have endured glitter-filled nostalgic memories within me for years to come. With Consensio
2016, everything was destined to be changed for good. Billed as the
biggest and most extravagant college fest in this part of the country, Consensio 2016
promised everything: from organizing competitive events for students, to
showcasing various skills amongst young minds: and from hosting budding singers, to featuring accomplished dancers, literally laying a platform for every student to exhibit their talents, paving the way for presenting the biggest cultural
extravaganza in the entire North-Eastern region.
Consensio 2016 was inaugurated by the pride of Assam, Angaraag Mahanta. It was quite a marvelous and glittering opening ceremony which kick-started the entire fest. The entire day was filled with events like Tech Buzz: The Tech
quiz, where I was the quiz-master, Melo-De-Ca: Solo song prelims, Meteorite: Battle of the bands prelims and
other interesting events. The day passed off rather quickly with each event
being concluded in a smooth fashion. The evening was reserved for Vogue: The Mr. &
Miss Consensio event. Turning an almost blind eye to the male contestants, my heart was
pumping blood at the speed of light, to the charming sight of each elegant female
contestant on-stage. For starters, each of them looked worthy of a Miss
Universe title. One of my good friends, the highly talented and graceful Mudita, deservingly won the Miss Consensio title. She profoundly dazzled each and every soul present in the audience! Mo & the Shooting Stars and Ganesh Talkies heated up the
evening with their brilliant performances, with the later winding up the evening's affairs.
Day II had me relatively more pumped up and excited because
of the event named “Battle between Galaxies”, where I had registered for the
FIFA event. For me, FIFA is like oxygen. It is a completely different matter that I couldn't be the Champion but it was a tremendous experience. On the other hand, the evening was
reserved for Sunburn Campus! Who wouldn’t be excited for Sunburn? Even for a
relatively low-key guy like me got hysterical about it. I
had some other happier news for the day too. My friend bagged the runners-up title in Melo-De-Ca: The solo song competition. Her marvelous voice was acknowledged by everyone in the auditorium. The day was filled
with events like, tattoo-making, costume designing events and likewise similar
affairs. And then, it was time for Sunburn. The packed audience went crazy at
the sight of DJ Siana Catherine, who totally stole the show. DJ Kerano equally
enthralled the evening with some solid explosive music. Dancing didn’t come
naturally to me but with the kind of show put up, I had no option but to work my legs out and rattle-and-swing my body to the sound of the two charismatic DJs.
Day III was reserved for pre-consensio events prize
distribution ceremony, Meteorite finals, a well-directed play by
the name of ‘Modern Ramayana’ and the Neha Kakkar show. A special mention should be reserved for the ‘Modern Ramayana’ play, which was the brainchild of Mrs. Arpee
Saikia Bora, a very innovative, knowledgeable and imaginative person, who
thankfully happens to be a professor at Royal Group of Institutions. The mesmerizing play
had audience laughing, cheering and applauding till the very end. It was one of
the many profound ideas of Consensio 2016. The evening was filled with Neha Kakkar
making the audience dance to her hit numbers and much more. The packed audience
was one of the largest I have ever seen in a single college fest.
And with it, Consensio 2016 filled us with some of the most remarkable and memorable moments of our college life. Indeed! Nostalgia would hit hard after a few years but that would be bliss!
Diverse new ideas hobble around the human mind with
smart, resourceful and inventive thoughts continuously blending with the grey-cells in our brain.
The wise human being always put these into actions. And with Consensio
2016 leaving behind a much-needed and influential legacy for generations to
come in the near future, we have been extremely honored to be part of such a fascinating and immense journey!
Let the legacy continue!
Long Live Consensio!
