Wayne Rooney-The Transfer Saga

Post the 20th title success of Manchester United, personally I don't feel anything has been going United's way. From losing Thiago to Bayern Munich, to failure to get Fabregas on board, nothing is happening in a way that fans of this club would get excited about. The saga surrounding around Wayne Rooney tops the list of un-holiness.

For me,supporting United at the first place was for two reasons. One was Cristiano Ronaldo. The other, Wayne Rooney.I still remember the first time I watched Rooney in the 2006 FIFA World Cup,when England played Portugal. The hype was around Rooney facing his team-mate Ronaldo. Back in those days, I wasn't much into football. The World Cup football matches were the only ones I used to watch. Rooney's career took a surprise turn at Everton. He was a talented teen at Everton. Clubs lined up to lure him from his youth club.  It took some £27m for United to bring in an 18-year old Wayne Rooney from Everton in 2004. Post that transfer, he has been a reckoning figure in the United's shirt. There are seriously no words to describe Rooney. Even fans of rival clubs would agree to the fact that he can be considered one of the top players along with Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi, in present football. Few teams would afford to lose a star player like Rooney. What Indians consider Dhoni (yes, our very own Mahendra Singh Dhoni) in the Indian cricket team, personally I place Rooney in the same position. I just cannot imagine Manchester United without Rooney. It would be like a world without girls. He obviously  has his own personal reasons to be unhappy with the United management. Why wouldn't he be? A player, who is England's no. 1 striker has been often pushed to the sidelines of the team. Who can forget those Ronaldo years, when the United team mostly revolved around the great Cristiano Ronaldo. Those were few of the Golden years in the history of Manchester United.Post the sad sale of Ronaldo to Real Madrid, Rooney even played  2nd fiddle to Berbatov and Javier Hernandez. A player of Rooney's stature is the back-up of Van Persie, even in the current team. There are few things which have gone unexplained. Why is the management of United messing up things like this? If they really want to get rid of Rooney, why haven't they put him up for sale? And if they don't want to, then they should resolve this thing as fast as possible. A team like United, who haven't made a marquee signing this summer needs to resolve things surrounding around one of their top players. After having regained the Premier League title last season, the other teams aren't going to sit idle. Chelsea have already roped in Mourinho, who they consider as "The Special One", as their manager. And he has been trying quite a few mind games involving the Rooney saga,as he wish to get in Rooney for Chelsea. Who doesn't want Rooney? After all, he is a star player, even though most hate him. United's city rivals have already spent over the moon money to bring in new players. As the new season sets to begin, every other top teams of the Premier League has geared up their team. I only hope the Rooney saga doesn't more than destroy the core of United. I am not advising Rooney to stay or leave, as it is his own personal decision. I only wish he doesn't go elsewhere. I cannot even think of Rooney leaving Manchester United. Who can forget his tremendous goals and assisits? Who on Earth can forget his bye-cycle kick  against Manchester City in the 2010-11 season?
The bicycle kick against Manchester City.

Whatever has been reported till date, has me wondering, as to how to cope with the loss of a player like Rooney? How can I forget the departure of Ronaldo? After all, the start of 2009-10 season was one of the saddest part of my life. Ronaldo left for Real Madrid  It was exactly the feeling, a boy/girl has, post their break-up..For me it was worse than that. But life had to move on. And since then,United have even won 2 Premier League titles. It is not that United cannot win titles, in case Rooney departs. But he is that player whom you cannot afford to lose. Not in any case. Neither in any price. And to that team, who you consider one of your biggest rival. Chelsea. And,as luck has it, it is 99% guaranteed that Rooney will play for Chelsea, post this transfer window. I am living on that remaining 1%,and hoping against hope. And if that 1% lives on its expectation, then I would have the same feeling as felt by Neil Armstrong on that auspicious day in 1969. Other than that, I can do nothing but pray to God.
My message to Rooney:........please don't leave the Theatre of Dreams.Manchester United needs you. You are my Pele,Maradona,Zidane,Raul,Beckham and Ronaldo combined. You are still the driving force at Old Trafford.
