Batman V Superman: My Review
Ever since the beginning of time, one movie out of all was
being highly anticipated and anxiously awaited by fans alike.
The excitement
level rose to infinity with every nearing day. It was Batman V Superman: Dawn
of Justice. I have always been fascinated by these ultra-serious super-heroes
like Superman and Batman. As I have come across loads of comic books in my
childhood, the movie had gotten me extra enthusiastic. So, was the movie up to
the so-much hyped mark? Was the ultimate showdown between two of the most
popular superheroes on this planet took fans for a ride? Are the critics justified in their
criticism of the highly awaited movie? Well, here are my talking points from
the movie:
Ben Affleck: Ever since the very popular Batman
trilogy, fans have been totally critical about a new Batman actor other than
Christian Bale. And ever since the very first trailer, I very much liked the idea
of Ben Affleck as the Batman. And boy, Affleck’s portrayal was one of the class
acts of the movie. His deep, appealing voice as the Bat of Gotham and his
bodily structure as to what a Batman should look like was an epic showcase only
Jack Snyder could have cast! He was 'The Perfect Batman'!
Gal Gadot: If Affleck stole the show as the
Batman, then our Wonder Woman has to get the top spot too. If this wasn’t a
Batman and Superman centric movie, she would have definitely carried the entire
movie with all her might alone. Even then, Gal Gadot’s portrayal of Wonder
Woman was a class-apart. And her entry act in the fighting scene was one
masterpiece of an act. Yes, she stole every piece of my heart away too! Love
you, Miss Gadot!
The Storyline: Many people felt the story was too
boring and was stretched too much. Well, for starters, let me say that this isn’t a
dull, baseless Bollywood movie, where you encounter action sequences in every
nook and corner of the movie without any single, logical reason. The movie has
to show all the possible pathways as to justify the title of it. The story has
to be planted carefully throughout the movie. And in this process, many fans,
mostly Indians were left disappointed. Sigh, to all the fans!
Lex Luthor: There was Kavin Spacey, who did a
wonderful job in Superman Returns in 2006. The dark sided, shady villain was truly
justified by the great actor. Here, Jesse Eisenberg tried to emulate or at
least, match the greatest villains down the history of cinema. And in doing so,
it felt parts of his acting were a direct lift-off from villains of other
movies. Even then, he did a decent job in depicting the crazy, lunatic Mr. Luthor
and his dialogue delivery was amazing too. Thumbs up Mr. reel-Zuckerberg!
Michael Caine was missed: The ever loved Alfred, who was so-affectionately
portrayed by Michael Caine in the Dark Knight trilogy, was an absolute
fan-favorite. The magical tone and the sweet accent with which Caine delivered his
dialogues were a treat to the ears. His adorable presence was missed at times
but Jeremy Irons produced an absolute original Alfred, moving away from what
Caine depicted in the Nolan trilogy. Irons made sure the fans fall in love with
Alfred once again and I am sure, with more DC movies on the way, Irons will
surely master the role. Alfred all the way!
Verdict: As an
ardent super-hero fan, I would say that Batman V Superman was an absolute epic
movie. The way it portrayed the characters and the motion with which it
progressed the story was vastly admirable. The other new characters, Aquaman,
Cyborg and Flash, whose little introductions were given out, has made DC fans even more excited for the coming days. Jack Snyder surely has got the DC extended
Universe to a flying start and with more movies to come, fans are in for a
treat for more.
Dawn of Justice has laid the base for
each and every character of the Justice League movies to be followed and that
is one of the many reasons, I loved the movie too. Some movies are made to showcase
the start of something big, really big. Batman V Superman is one such movie. I
can promise you, there will be much more actions to come. Believe!
p.s: For all those who have watched the
movie, don’t worry, Superman doesn’t remain dead for much long. I have read the
comics and he gets revived in the very near future. That’s another promise!
