Why is Net Neutrality important?
This blog post is all about the virtual world. So, maybe imagining
is all you have to do! Let me ask you to consider a situation:
Imagine a parallel universe, where you co-exist. Imagine that
your love for the internet co-exists as well. As a result, you buy a data plan
for your pre-paid connection, let’s say airtel for the time being. And whilst
within that validity period, you are not allowed to access your favourite
social website, Facebook or may be even Twitter. Even Youtube is not accessible
to you. How about whatsapp or those other messaging apps? What if you are
unable to use their texting or calling features with your existing data plan?
To get access to these privileged websites and apps, you need to purchase various
different other plans. Like, to get access to Facebook and to enjoy its various
‘out-of-the-world services’, you ought to buy the ‘Facebook pack’! Or if you
wish to tweet or remain up-to-date with the various random tweets around the
world, the ‘Twitter pack’ needs to be purchased! Even whatsapp has a different
pack for its services to be used! So, basically if you wish to enjoy the
services of these amazing sites and apps, you have to get hold of their
respective packs. Or otherwise, you are doomed indefinitely. Wait, there’s
more! You love streaming videos in youtube, right? How about paying some extra
bucks for streaming videos faster? And if those additional stash of cash is
required to be preserved inside your purse, then the good old days of
‘buffering’ would come to haunt you instantaneously!
So, the above mentioned horror consequences are just the tip
of the iceberg of the things if net neutrality is not granted by the ‘Telecom
Regulatory Authority of India’ (TRAI). Getting access to any website is our
right, once we are into any data plan. There must not be any hindrance to our
access to the vast World Wide Web just because the various telecom operators
want to garner some extra amount of cash from its customers. In simple words,
the World Wide Web is an ocean of knowledge. There must be equality for everyone, irrespective of any matter imaginable.
In short, our life would be doomed if the telecom companies
of our country win their way. I do not wish to say much but I would like to ask
you to do a small favour in connection with this matter. Kindly, click here and send a response to TRAI citing your support for net
neutrality in India. You definitely understand the value of the internet and I
hope that the telecom companies understand our situation as well and grant us
the right that we deserve for. So, go to the site and do the necessary! It is
really worth it and hopefully, we will achieve net neutrality in the coming
time. Hurry up!! The deadline day is 24th April!
Good job man
