Ronaldo or Messi? Who's your favourite?

“Who is better: Messi or Ronaldo?”

One says Messi. While another says it’s Ronaldo. And the debate continues.

Messi is in the making of a Barcelona legend, while Ronaldo is on the verge of the same feat in the Real Madrid colours.

Both Messi and Ronaldo have won the Ballon D’Or more than once. If Messi has won four, Ronaldo has won two.

 Both Messi and Ronaldo has scored enormous amount of goals for their respective clubs.

Undoubtedly, the top two positions in the list of Best Footballers belong to these two greats, in the making. And yet people still argue as to who is the best amongst them. As a football fan, I feel terrible and sad watching these debates, but also at the same time, I enjoy the erotic manner in which the debate unfolds. This is one of the most hot debate topics amongst all football lovers. Every other football fan is either a Messi fan or a Ronaldo one. It doesn’t matter which club you support, but you have got to love at least one of them. And such is the ferocity of the topic that I get into a heated argument everyday with my friends, while trying to justify my admiration and support for one of them. Although I am a big fan of Cristiano Ronaldo, I equally admire Messi, and his world-class skills as a footballer. No doubt Ronaldo is a great player and is a class apart from others. And being a Manchester United fan, I will always have a place for him in my heart, no matter which club he plays for. But the matter of fact is that Messi is equally a great player, who is defined by a class of his own. If you have witnessed both these players, you would definitely get the notion that both are completely different in their style of play, and hence cannot be compared. Both have touched highest of highs in world football. And it is of immense honor that this generation has had the opportunity to witness these two greats. I feel very sad to see people fighting over the issue of who should be considered the greatest amongst them, but frankly and seriously speaking, both should get that position equally. One of them may be admired by you, but that doesn’t prove the superiority of one over the other.  After all, both of them have shown us what each one can produce in the football field for their respective clubs. Goals after goals are being scored by both of them, although Messi has slightly dipped in form as of recently. Both Real Madrid and Barcelona should be proud that they each possess one of the two greatest footballers of this generation. It is of utter foolishness to compare both of them as even their style of playing is different. While Ronaldo operates in the wing position, Messi has been more of a central forward player although things have changed with the arrival of new players in Barcelona. If you love football, and know to appreciate the beautiful game, it is only fair that both of them get an equal number of votes. Neither Messi nor Ronaldo alone should occupy the numero uno position but both of them deservingly should be at the top together. Without these two, football wouldn’t have been as exciting as it is now. The competition between the two is immensely admirable and I hope both of them achieve their dream till they are aged enough to play.
