Happy Independence Day anyone?
Open a newspaper. Turn on the news channel. Walk down the
road. Go to a vegetable shop.
How many things did you find which would make you feel that
our country is not an error-free country? Don’t some of the things really annoy
you?
The matter of fact is that India is not a perfect country in terms of
economy, development, law and order and many other fields. But on the other
hand, India is a far better and fortunate country than those of Somalia,
Ethiopia, Israel, Gaza and even Ukraine and Russia, considering current
political scenario. And honestly, this is certainly true. But why are the
people still suffering from various different miseries? Won’t these problems be
ever solved?
Prices of various important household items, especially
vegetables have gone up alarmingly. Politicians have been ruling our country by
looting our money. The economic condition has gone down tremendously with the
value of the rupee further on the declination. Corruption has risen to a new
height of insanity. Education system has deteriorated to new lows. Education
has now become more of a business and sadly, the real purpose of education has
been lost. Education has been limited to only attending schools and colleges. The
number of jobs has declined too. Religious conflicts still take place in many parts of the country. Inter-religious marriages are still considered a sin. Malnutrition has become a common sight among the poverty-stricken
children. Poverty has remained intact even years after the Government promised
to abolish it. Rapes and murders are increasing in a shocking rate. So, is India really an
independent country? Are we celebrating an Independence Day just for the sake of a holiday? Is being free
from the British rule everything for being described as a free country? Did Mahatma Gandhi and the other freedom fighters sacrificed so much for this harsh reality?
This is the sorry state of our country. Even though it has
been 67 years since our country achieved independence from the British rule,
India has failed to develop from within. India is a country with a population
of more than a billion and is still facing a huge developmental crisis even
after so many years of being an independent nation. It obviously doesn’t feel
good to be in a country where development has not really been taking place.
Ranging from the fields of education to those of sports, the progress made by
India is very much negligible. It is high time suitable steps should be
undertaken by the government in order to make progress in the various fields
for the country. Promises have been made and promises have been broken. This
has been the identity of the earlier government. It had simply failed in its
duty to uplift the face of our country. With the advent of the new government,
I am certainly hopeful that our country would touch new heights of development.
And as citizens, it is also our duty to follow the correct path. I don’t know
how much development and progress our country would make in the near future but
I really hope that this Independence Day sparks up a new era of change in our
country. I really hope all the problems and miseries that are being faced by the
people are solved big time. Only when the country would be freed from these
problems, India would be a completely Independent nation. And unless
politicians make situation worse, there is still hope for a big change. Till
then, be a proud countryman and respect every other countryman. Indeed, Happy
Independence Day!
